| A competitive field of 150 kids from five zones across the State went head to head in their respective age groups at the 2012 Bombers Australia Pony Club Association of NSW State Polocrosse Championships. Held from July 12-15 at the Camden Bicentennial Equestrian Park, each team competed in up to nine games with Zones fielding teams for the under 13s, 13 to under 17 and 17 to under 25 age groups. This was only the second year the Pony Club Association of New South Wales has held this event as a formal State championship, said an event spokesperson. Features of the event included industry trade stands, as well as a charity fund raising auction on the Saturday night, which accompanied a dinner where games were also held. The night was a great success, with the 140-strong crowd reveling well into the night. The auction was organized to raise money for the Anderson family from Holbrook whose house was lost to fire. The loss also forced the under 13 zone 20 team to withdraw, who were at that point undefeated. The auction included items such as a stallion service from Gary & Kay Stevenson, Orange, which raised $600, a custom made breast plate donated by Stan Bowd, Glenorie, which raised $260, sold under guest auctioneer Jim Callinan from Scone. This was brought to $1545 with cash donations, which continued to flow in throughout the weekend. The Bower Family from Camden catered for the dinner which was a 3 course meal. The under 13 section of the event was taken out by Zone 26, while Zones 16 and 20 took out back-to-back titles in the 13 and under 17s and the 17 and under 25s. The winning Zone 16 team representing the Canberra region, included Mark McInnes, Joel Jordan, Keiran Chapman and Zoe Hall, all of Canberra Riding Club, Jackson Keir, Sutton Pony Club and Tori Doak, Hall Pony Club. Representing the north-west Sydney region in Zone 26 were Khloe Anderson, Andrew Hollis, Georgia Messina, Misty Mitchell and Ebony Ramm, all of Woodlands Park Pony Club, Lucy Batten, Hills District Pony Club and Courtney Bowd, Glenorie Pony Club. Riding for the Zone 20 team from the Albury/Tumut area were Louise Rouch and Christopher Peel, Upper Murray, Clayton Dodwell, Tumbarumba Pony Club, Samantha Worthington and Kate Brown, Black Range Pony Club, Maddy Cottrill, Wirlinga Pony Club, and Jeremy Webb of Tumut Pony Club. The best presented team was Zone 19's 13 and under 17s advanced team which included Brittany Newham and Damian Mannix, Londonderry Pony Club, Matilda Harry and Damian Procopio, Kurrajong Pony Club, Kyra Martin, Hawkesbury Valley Pony Club and Sarah Raffen, Epona Pony Club. The spokesperson said the event attracted a strong turn-out with numbers on par with the previous year. The benefit to the players was also evident, with the skill level across all levels having increased dramatically. Scone auctioneer Jim Callinan also kept the crowd entertained with his running commentary of the games. "We've had great feedback from a lot of the competitors and they really like having an announcer," the spokesperson said. The event also received great support from its major sponsor, supplier of sporting equipment for campdrafting, Polocrosse, polo and cutting, Bombers Australia, plus sponsors Code Construction, Peel Pastoral Company, Premier Auto Centre, Camelot Horse Rugs and Mitavite. Also supporting the event were Horseland Narellan, Goodwoods Saddlery, Inglis, Wide World of Sports Channel Nine, Sydney Polocrosse, Moss Vale Polocrosse, Repco Autoparts, NAB Agribusiness, International Animal Health, Camden Show Society, Europa Saddlery, Coffee Bean and Equissage, Nick Sherwood of Camden Hay and the families of Zone 19. Event organisers also recognise the efforts of Zone 19 members, who worked tirelessly to make the event the success it was; the canteen staff from across all Zone 19 clubs and the event's umpires and officials.
