Isle of Wight Elite Auction
|Isle of Wight Elite Auction - 17th Jun 2008|
A lovely display of wine and the four stallions.
With trade stands catering for a wide of variety of interests from saddlery, photography, tractor sales, wineries, horse floats, stable complexes and fodder stores there was something for everyone. Great seating was on offer whether you wanted a ringside seat or somewhere to sit and enjoy some lunch or a glass of wine.
David Quick who completed a beautiful exhibition ride aboard Isle of Aspen was almost outshone by his 14 year old Son Lorne Quick. Lorne rode the veteran Grand Prix stallion "Romboli" who at aged 25 was an absolute gentleman, Lorne had only ridden Romi on seven occasions and never before had they ridden together in public. There was total silence as the pair performed shoulder in, half pass, flying changes, piaffe and passage all in perfect harmony without the use of spurs. At the end of the performance, the crowd was emotional with hardly a dry eye in the house as this dear old gentleman guided his young rider through all the movements in such a light and soft manner which was evident by the standing applause they both received. One can only imagine how incredibly proud David must have felt for the two of them at that moment.
Then onto the serious business of the day..
There was a buzz of excitement as the auction began, led by auctioneer Michael Glasser including expert commentary from MC Bruce Faulk, the four stallion services sold from lot 1 to 4.
