Even though we’re rapidly approaching the end of the year and summertime here in Australia, there is still plenty of horse racing to experience. If you’re an avid follower of horse racing like me, you usually expect all of the meetings to congest themselves between April and September so as to line up with the spring and the summer over in the United Kingdom.
However, there are other horse racing meetings, such as the Melbourne Cup, which I particularly like to have a flutter; easily done on top betting sites like Aussiebet and chance my luck. And of course, as it gets towards the end of the year, we get to enjoy our summer here in Australia with a wealth of sporting events
Plenty of meetings left.
Some of the other big meetings that we have to look forward to for the rest of the year also include the extremely prestigious Prix de L'Arc de Triomphe, which is held at the lovely Longchamps racecourse, one of my favourite racecourses. It’s held in early October, so I am certainly looking forward to that, and it also has one of the biggest purses on the racing calendar, with around 5 million euros up for grabs across all of the races in the event. There is also the international meeting that is held in Hong Kong in December, which is another one of my favourites as it celebrates the global nature of the horse racing sport. Some of the other meetings in the calendar from the UK include:-
Haydock Betfair Chase
Winter Festival @ Kempton
King George VI Chse
Welsh Grand National
Ayr Gold Cup Meeting
Are they worth a bet?
As a disclaimer, these are just horses that I think you should keep an eye on. Of course some of them may also be the bookmakers favourites as well, so there is a high chance that they will win, but it can never be ruled out that you might get an underdog winning in one of the races. However, after doing my research, I have below justified why I think each of the below horses are the ones to look out for in the meetings that we have yet to see on our screens this year.
Gold Trip
Looking ahead to the Melbourne Cup, if you had to get me to give you a tip, it would be to back this stallion. Of course there is plenty of talent in the race; however, if you want a horse that blends both skill and class, then this is the one I would recommend that you bet on to reach glory at the Flemington Racecourse. It is a horse that is now native over here in Australia, having been imported overseas from France back in 2021. When he was back in France, he was placed 4th in the aforementioned Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe, showing he has what it takes to handle pressure on the big stage.
Ace Impact
Now I’m going to head out of Australia and over to where the last horse came from, which of course is France, and I’m going to tell you who my favourite would be to take the crown in the Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe, and that is Ace Impact. At the moment you can get odds of around 11-4, meaning that he is both my favourite and also the bookies favourite. This is a horse that is no stranger to glory, but he still wants to confirm his place as one of the leaders in the middleweight division by taking first place here and leaving all of the speculators without any doubt as to his capability.
Los Angeles
Finally, the third horse that I’m going to recommend you keep an eye out for calls the United Kingdom his home, and the meeting we’re going to focus on is the famous St. Leger festival, which occurs every September, and so it’s only a few weeks away, which is exciting. And again, even though it seems the save guess, I’m going to back what the bookies call their favourite for the race. It’s trained by the legendary Aiden O’Brien, a name synonymous with winners within the British horse racing circuit. Jockey Ryan Moore is also being tipped to be the jockey of choice, having won this race before on other horses. All of this, in my opinion, makes for a winning combination.
In Summary
These are three of my recommendations of exciting horses to look out for as they all compete in their respective races/meetings to lift their respective trophies. Even though there are plenty of meetings left in the horse racing calendar, I thought it would be best to choose some of the biggest races and, of course, one from over here in Australia.
The Melbourne Cup is the biggest race in Australia and attracts millions watching it both here in Australia and from around the world each and every year. It also attracts some of the best trainers, jockeys, and horses from around the world as they all vie for glory.
