Accidental ring-in - wrong horse runs in wrong race

Thought you'd seen everything in racing?

Maybe not.

In an extraordinary blunder at Rockhampton, the wrong horse ran in the wrong race on Thursday.

Julieann Lancaster-trained seven-year-old bay gelding Authadane had been meant to start in race six ā€“ a 1200m sprint ā€“ and was sent out at $101.

It finished sixth and correct weight was declared - but it was disqualified when it was discovered post-race it was actually better performed stablemate Plain ā€˜Nā€™ Simple which had been meant to run in race seven.
