Apache Cat set for check up shortly

Champion sprinter Apache Cat will be reviewed by specialists either this week or next as he continues his recovery from eye cancer treatment.

The retired star of the turf underwent radiation therapy in February at South Eastern Equine Clinic after he was diagnosed with a squamous cell carcinoma to his right eye.

The Living Legends resident received the radiation treatment from internationally recognised equine veterinary eye specialist Dr Andrew Turner, assisted by human radiation therapist Faye Tuchtan.

The condition, which is common in breeds and individuals who lack pigment around the eye, was quickly diagnosed by the team at Living Legends, who were determined to have the issue resolved and the champ back in his favourite paddock as quickly as possible.
