Australian Based Riders Gain WEG Qualifications

Boneo Park’s Winter CDI at the weekend saw a number of Australian based riders meet crucial FEI World Equestrian Games™ Tryon 2018 selection criteria.

The event also saw a record number of domestic combinations (seven) score over 70 % in the Grand Prix Freestyle.

Boneo Park’s Managing Director Fiona Selby said;

“The weather could not have been worse but thanks to our entire team who worked hard in trying conditions to put on a smooth event that allowed riders to put together great scores.”

“Seven riders scored over 70 % which is close to a record and this was a really momentous occasion for Australian dressage,” she said.

Combinations that have now achieved the required threshold scores of 69% or higher in order to be considered for selection for the Australian team at the FEI World Equestrian Games™ Tryon 2018, USA, (one of which must be in 2018) are;

Rider: Judy Dierks Horse: Diamond Star Owner: Vicki Newham
Rider: Mary Hanna Horse: Boogie Woogie 6 Owner: Rob & Mary Hanna
Rider: Kristy Oatley Horse: Du Solei Owner: R & R Oatley
Rider: Brett Parbery Horse: DP Weltmeiser Owner: Susan Duddy
Rider: Shannan Goodwin Horse: Aristede Owner: Shannan Goodwin
Rider: Alexis Hellyer Horse: Bluefields Floreno Owner: J J Fuchs

In addition to meeting threshold scores of 69% and/or above, athletes must also compete at a minimum of two nominated events to be considered for WEG selection.

There are now only two events remaining on the calendar - Fritzens-Schindlhof CDI4* in Austria on June 29 and Faslterbo CDI3* and CDIO5* in Sweden on July 12. Internationally based Australian riders expected to compete at one or both of these events are Kristy Oatley, Mary Hanna, Briana Burgess and Simone Pearce.
