Close to 200 South Island showjumpers to converge on Waimate

Close to 200 showjumpers have converged on Waimate for the South Island Pony Club Championships.

The Waimate Pony Club had considered cancelling the 21st annual South Island Showjumping Championships amid rolling Covid-19 lockdowns but with 30 “really supportive” teams signed up, planning continued and the event will go ahead at the Southern Canterbury A&P Showgrounds on Tuesday and Wednesday.

“It’s a lot of work for a small pony club to undertake,” event organiser and Waimate club head coach Maureen Chamberlain said.
