Equestrian Victoria announces board changes

Equestrian Victoria (EV) today announced that board director Tom Lupton had tendered his resignation effective immediately, due to external business pressures and impending fatherhood.

Jumping Victoria Chair Clint Rose said Tom had made a valuable contribution to show jumping in Victoria over the past two years.

“Tom has played an integral role in the promotion and administration of show jumping, and in the organisation of major events including the Australian Show Jumping Championships,” he said.

“He has generously offered to continue to support the sport, including running the state show jumping championships to be held at Werribee later this year.

“We thank Tom for his contribution and wish him and Amanda well in their business and with their new family.”

The board has decided to appoint Suzie Batten to fill the casual vacancy created by Mr Lupton’s departure, until the EV Annual General Meeting at the end of 2018.

Suzie has more than 30 years’ experience in corporate and financial communications consulting and is a chartered accountant, a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a principal of Vaughan Partners. She has held various board directorships and governance committee roles, been president and committee member of two pony clubs, and performed many other community roles. Suzie is a member of the EV interschools committee and has three daughters, two of whom compete actively in eventing, show jumping and interschools.

EV Chair Peter Dunne said, “We welcome Suzie back to the EV board and look forward to working with her to drive continuing improvements in the performance and governance of EV.”

The board recently advertised for candidates to nominate for potential consideration as appointed directors, under section 26.6 of the EV constitution. The board will consider the nominations received and announce any further appointments as appropriate.
