Kavanagh regrouping five years after cobalt saga

It was five years ago this month that Flemington trainers Danny O'Brien and Mark Kavanagh were charged with cobalt offences.

A long running battle through the courts with Racing Victoria finally saw the group 1 winning pair cleared to continue their careers after the governing body had tried to impose disqualifications.

O'Brien, the youngest of the pair, has bounced back strongly. After a period in the doldrums he has steadily built up his stable strength and capped his comeback with a Melbourne Cup triumph with stable star Vow and Declare last November.
