Kimberley town brought back to life by first rodeo and races since coronavirus closures

After months of lockdown, a Kimberley town has been brought back to life with dancefloors of red dust, frocks and flannelettes at one of the only rodeos and race meets the region will see this year.

The action inside the red-dirt ring of the Derby Bullarama drew in record crowds of more than 1,000 people on Friday night, with people from all over the region coming to watch the bulls, broncs and barrel racing.

It was followed up with the picnic races on Saturday, a usually understated event of 300 people, that instead tripled in crowd size to become the premier and only race meet of the region.
