Madrid hosts latest Longines FEI World Cup qualifier for Western Europe

This week, Madrid is Europe’s equestrian capital as the Madrid Horse Week takes place in the city. Competitions in everything from traditional doma vaquera riding to World Cup dressage are being held alongside a huge commercial village, shows and exhibits. And of course, the Spanish capital's Feria de Madrid venue is also hosting the sixth qualifier of the Longines FEI World Cup jumping circuit.

Madrid, whose name may be derived from the Arabic words mayrit or magerit meaning ‘place of abundant water’ and ‘place of many springs’, is hosting 46 CSI5*-level show jumping riders and 94 horses from 16 nations this year, including Great Britain’s Ben Maher and Laura Renwick.
