Three nations jump for Mitsubishi Motors

Teams from France, China and Australia will compete in the Mitsubishi Motors Tri-Nations Cup Showjumping as part of the Thoroughbred Industry Careers Pony Club Australia National Championships at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre next week. Teams of four riders will compete over 3 rounds on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.
The team from France is Celia Gemza and May Huguenin from Normandy, and Olivia Ducreux and Charles- Henri Brinon from New Caledonia. Coach is Thibaut Damas and team manager Sue Williams, who has lived in France for many years. The team will also be accompanied by Mr Vincent Fardeau, president of the New Caledonian committee of the French Equestrian Federation.
Riding for China are Xiao Linchao, Li Yantao, Zhao Zhengjun and Vanessa Davis (Avon Valley PC, WA). The team manager is Wu Bingfeng and coach Margrete Erling from NSW. Both Vanessa and Margrete have visited China as part of Pony Club Australia tours.
The Australian team is Ashleigh Bennett, Young PC, NSW; J’Aime Mallon, Riddells Creek PC, Vic; Kaitlin Goss, Eastern Hills PC, WA and Georgia Elias, Tasmanian Pony & Riding Club. The team is being looked after by coach Ron Waddell from Victoria and team manager Janet Hamblin from NSW.
Many of the horses being used in the competition are Thoroughbreds recently retired from the track and educated for the competition by a group of Pony Club New South Wales members in partnership with Racing NSW. Pony Club Australia and the international visitors are very grateful for the loan horses for the event.
This is the second time the international event has been a feature of the national championships, with the Australian team winning in 2017.
