Media release from Equestrian Australia: Coup for Queensland Equestrian

Coup for Queensland Equestrian

As part of Equestrian Australia (EA) and Tourism Events Queensland’s (TEQ) National Equestrian Events Package, EA is delighted to announce that two more high profile equestrian events will be taking place in Queensland over the coming months.

The first event is world class Reining. This international level event will attract the best Australian based reining combinations to compete. With the all-important 2018 World Equestrian Games (WEG) in September this year, this is one of the last opportunities riders have to gain points for qualification.

Reining is spectacular to watch and with WEG being held in the home of reining, the United States, this event is sure to bring the best that Australia has to offer. The action will take place at the Queensland State Equestrian Centre on April 15.

Then, on July 22nd, Brisbane welcomes UK Dressage legend Carl Hester MBE, who will host a “Through the Levels Masterclass”. Carl is one of the best dressage coaches in the world and has a professional resume to match, having won team gold at the 2012 London Olympics, gold in the team dressage at the FEI World Equestrian Games at Rotterdam in 2011 and more recently he was part of England’s silver medal winning dressage team at the 2016 Rio Olympics. In addition to this, in 2013 Carl was awarded an MBE from the Queen for his services to Equestrianism.

Putting riding skills to one side, he is renowned as one of the most colourful personalities in Equestrian sport and will bring his unique, engaging and fun personality to Brisbane. Tickets for the Carl Hester Masterclass will be on sale soon so keep an eye on the Brisbane CDI Facebook Page for further information.

Paula Ward, EA CEO said, “It is great to be able to hold such high profile events, with world renowned personalities in Brisbane and to promote this amazing city. EA has been working closely with TEQ, with the aim of bringing an increased number of Equestrian events to Queensland and these fit firmly into that agenda”.

On securing these events, Queensland Minister for Tourism Industry Development Kate Jones said they would attract Equestrian enthusiasts and spectators from across the state.

“These two high profile Equestrian events are major additions to Tourism and Event Queensland’s It’s Live! in Queensland calendar,” Ms Jones said.

“Events like these are key to growing Queensland’s tourism industry, with hundreds expected to travel to be part of the World Class Reining and ‘Through the Levels Masterclass’.”

The Queensland Government, via Tourism and Events Queensland, is proud to support these events which feature on the It’s Live! in Queensland events calendar. Queensland, just the place to experience Australia’s best live events.
