Melbourne Cup: Horse Regal Monarch put down after fall

A horse that broke down in a race at the Melbourne Cup meeting has been put down.

Regal Monarch, who is trained by the renowned Chris Waller, fell as he turned for home in race four on Tuesday.

The stumble from the English gelding also injured the jockey, Joao Moreira, forcing him from his ride on Thomas Hobson in the Cup.
