Owners kept apart from their horses during COVID-19 restrictions suffer from separation issues

Research into the effect COVID-19 travel restrictions had on horse owners found they experienced worry about their horse's welfare and loss of fitness due to lack of exercise.

As part of an international study, a team from Charles Sturt University questioned 680 horse owners in Australia about the impact travel restrictions had on them and their animals.

Associate professor of equine science, Hayley Randle, said the travel restrictions caused physical and mental health issues for some owners who were not able to see their horses or spend much time with them.
