Police investigate shooting at Mt Martha residence of former trainer

Police are investigating a shooting at the Mount Martha home of former racehorse trainer Mark Riley.

The shooting occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning and police said the occupants of the house were uninjured in the incident.

"Mornington Peninsula crime investigation unit detectives are investigating following a firearms incident in Mount Martha overnight [Tuesday morning]," police said in a statement.

"Investigators have been told an unknown person has fired a number of shots at a house on Phillips Court about 4.25am.
