Racing relief after virus scare sweeps Flemington

The racing industry was breathing a collective sigh of relief on Monday night after a coronavirus scare which swept through Flemington on the eve of the spring racing carnival turned out to be a false alarm.

Just eight weeks out from the Melbourne Cup, officials of the VRC, trainers and jockeys spent the day on tenterhooks as an ill employee of the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott stable was tested for COVID-19. The test returned a negative result.
