Fohlenhof’s Rock’n Rose, with Dorothee Schneider in the saddle collapsed and died at the Dressage Days Grand Prix prize giving at Pforzheim, Germany Sunday but the rider was not injured.
The show veterinarian was reported by Reiterjournal as suspecting the 17-year-old Hanoverian mare sustained a rupture of the aorta.
The 51-year-old rider and the mare had placed third in the Grand Prix, behind Jasmin Schaudt on Fano and Matthias Bouten on Boston. Dorothee was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
