THE Show Horse Council of Victoria ran its Southern Stars competition at Whittlesea on the weekend, giving riders the chance to qualify for the grand nationals in March.
Judges Sally Lawrie, Melissa Ovens, Margie Burrows and Danielle Riemer had a difficult task with large fields of quality animals to choose from.
Briony Randle showed a large team of horses and started her winning streak by taking out champion rider 30 years and over with Kirsty Marcon the reserve. Randle then rode Jeremy Robert's Napoleon to win the open small galloway from Chanel Hunter-Cooke and Daisy Patch Soul Star before also winning the large galloway class on Warren Coyle's Debanlay Design.
