The HUBSIDE Fall Tour Season2: Here We Go!

After playing host to the greatest riders and horses throughout the summer, from Thursday, the Haras Des Grillons de Grimaud’s HUBSIDE FALL TOUR will be kicking off with five weeks of shows, including two CSI 5*, the highest level in the world in the hierarchy of show jumping competitions. Open to everyone, free of charge. It is mandatory to wear a face mask.

Save the date! Five weeks of shows until mid-October

The HUBSIDE JUMPING de Grimaud is a mainstay in world show jumping and has been a key player in getting high-level sport underway again since the lockdown ended. From mid-July to mid- August, the French Riviera site played host to six weeks of shows, including the only two CSI 5* organised in the world to date. Good news! Sadri Fegaier, owner of the venue and the organiser of the HUBSIDE JUMPING, has confirmed five new dates, including two which are 5* again. So the best riders and horses established in Europe will come face to face in Grimaud:

. From 10 to 13 September, a CSI 4, a CSI 2 and a CSI 1*
. From 17 to 20 September, a CSI 5, a CSI2 and a CSI 1*
. From 23 to 27 September, a CSI 5, CSI 3, a CSI 2* and a CSI 1* . From 7 to 11 October, a CSI 4, CSI 3, a CSI 2* and a CSI 1*
. From 14 to 18 October, a CSI 4, CSI 3, a CSI 2* and a CSI 1*

Please note: from 24 September, CSI 3* shows will be organised alongside the key CSI 4/5, CSI 2 and CSI 1* events.

Open to everyone, free of charge, in accordance with the health guidelines in force in France
The HUBSIDE JUMPING, which has been the main high-level competition site in Europe this summer, introduced strict health guidelines to everyone present on site from the first day of the show, back in June. These guidelines have been modified and reinforced on a continuing basis to meet the requirements imposed by the French authorities on a national level. Thus, it is mandatory for everyone on site to wear face masks, including the riders, when they are not on horseback. The ever-numerous public can only sit on every other seat in the recently covered stands around the ring, in order to respect the social distancing rules in force. Hand sanitizer is available at different places on the showground and the common areas are disinfected all day long. Staff ensure that these guidelines, which are essential at a show bringing riders from throughout Europe together, are respected.

Edward Levy, finally?

As for sport, although the French riders dominated the winners’ list of the HUBSIDE JUMPING’s first season last year, they haven’t yet managed to win one of the six 4* and 5* Grands Prix organised in 2020. Will the French national anthem be played this weekend after the HUBSIDE JUMPING FALL TOUR’s first Grand Prix? In any event, Edward Levy, the rising star of French jumping and second in two of the HUBSIDE JUMPING’s Grands Prix this summer, will be a force to be reckoned with. The Parisian, who has made Normandy his home, will be coming to Grimaud with Starlette de la Roque and Sirius Black, with whom he won the Longines Deauville Classic 3* Grand Prix. The twenty-five- year-old will face some tough competition from his fellow countrywomen and men, starting with Pénélope Leprevost, the current Olympic team gold medallist. Other riders, who have not been prominent on the French international circuit since the lockdown ended, but who have shined on the national circuit in recent weeks, will also be present. They include Jean-Luc Mourier, winner of the French Grand National’s Tours Pernay leg, Benoît Cernin, winner of a leg of this same circuit in Cluny, and Nicolas Delmotte, who won the Pro Elite Grand Prix in Le Touquet in August, also a part of the Grand National’s circuit. And the foreign riders could also represent a threat...Eleven other nations are expected for this first week of the HUBSIDE FALL TOUR in Grimaud, including Switzerland’s Steve Guerdat. The 2012 Olympic individual gold medallist and current World number 1 will in all likelihood have his heart set on shining in a ring where he’s already been successful: in July, the rider from the Swiss canton of Jura won the CSI 5* Grand Prix and the Grand Prix of one of the CSI 2* shows held in August. Ireland has sent two of its best riders, Bertram Allen and Mark McAuley to counter him; as for Italy, it can count on Emanuele Gaudiano, second in the most recent 4* Grand Prix held in Grimaud.

This week the Italian course designer Andrea Colombo will be in charge of the track of the courses. Three levels of competition will be on offer (CSI 1, 2 and 4), boasting prize money totalling 276,000 euros, of which 100,000 euros will be for Sunday’s CSI 4 Grand Prix.
