Young Australian riders to New Zealand for the annual Trans-Tasman

On Friday the 16th of February four Victoria Young Rider’s departed from Melbourne on Route to Christchurch, New Zealand for the annual Trans-Tasman event. Binni Greg, Darcy Wade, Max Height and Joel Pearce were selected from Victoria’s Elite Young Rider Show Jumping Squad to represent their state. Coach, Brook Dobbin, and team Manager, Matt Wade also accompanied the Young Rider’s in their pursuit to reclaim victory. The New Zealand team consisted of Luci Askin, Steffi Whittaker, Jamie Bird and Kim Bird. Unfortunately, day one of competition did not go the Victorians way, finding themselves trailing behind the Kiwis 3 points to 7. After settling their nerves, the Victorian’s were able to win the second round of competition. This left the Victorian Young Rider’s on a total of 8 points over two days of competition, falling short behind New Zealand on 10 points.
