In a first of its kind, the weekend of the 21st - 22nd of October saw the RSNCA hold the Central West Lottery Sort in Dubbo, NSW. Described as a high stakes opportunity to win big prize money, while also having a great competition weekend, all levels of riders were able to compete, with a handicap supporting fair competition. 109 combinations competed in the first run of the featured Lottery Sort class, which was then whittled down to 33 pairs in the second run, and then a final top 20 combinations battled it out for placings in the class and the pointscore. Dawn Barwick and Ellen Adams won the class, taking the winning share of the $7828 in payouts, while Ben Lawrence placed third in the pointscore, for $500, Lonnie Henderson placed second for a $1500 cheque, and the big pointscore prize money of $3000 was awarded to a delighted Millah Frost. Ranch Sorting producers can now be found in NSW, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia for anyone who is interested in having a go.
