ISS EFA Australian Showjumping Championships and Bates Sydney International 3DE

What a great show for 14 year-old Tom McDermott from Wagga. Tom was the reining Junior Champion and went in to what is the delayed 2007 Australian Championships as hot favourite. Certainly his form in the previous three days had been outstanding. Tom had great success with three Thoroughbred horses including the talented, 'Markovich' (pictured). Tom won the final EFA Junior Grand Prix riding Markovich, but due to the point scoring system over three classes during which horse/rider combinations gain points, Tom had to settle for runner up Junior Australian Champion.

Junior rider, Erica Manosa burst onto the scene with her newly acquired 'TP Gifted'. Erica from the Philippines now lives in Sydney and attends Barker Girls College. She trains with Chris Chugg and if this weekend is anything to go by, she and 'TP Gifted' have a great future together.

James Hetherington and 'Shilo' from Duri in NSW finished fourth in the EFA Junior Grand Prix and fourth in the overall Australian Junior Championships.

Jack Maunder and 'Susie's Fancy' were fifth in the EFA Junior Grand Prix and third overall in the Junior Australian Championships.

Kym Hilly and 'Grand Chariot' from Kilcoy in Queensland took third place in the EFA Junior Grand Prix and were eleventh overall in the Australian Junior Championship.

What can be said about Monique Barrett and her extraordinary, 'Snowy River Ginger Megs' that has not been said before? They have a superb partnership, which combined with heaps of talent and training with George Sanna, they claimed second place in the EFA Junior Grand Prix and won the 2007 Australian Junior Championship.

Scott Simpson rode 'Timor Archie' to take fifth place in the Fairfield City Pre Novice and earned the Erin Walker Memorial Trophy for the Highest Placed Junior in that competition.

Experienced Victorian rider, Georgia Clifford rode her Falkrich gelding, 'Kolora Stud Falkrich II' to win the Fairfield City Council Pre Novice on her dressage score of 36.8.

Jessica Brown and 'Jetsetter B' make a beautiful picture during the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office Young Rider Grand Prix, they finished in ninth place.

Jade Knight and 'Lunar Image' from Luddenham in NSW jumped three super clear round in trying conditions to take second place in the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office Young Rider Grand Prix. Their effort moved them up from 13th to sixth in the Overall Young Rider Championship.

One of the few Victorians to make the trip to SIEC, Steven Hill with his 'Kelstar' during the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office Young Rider Grand Prix.

Jess Stalling riding the ex Vince Gretch mount and former Futurity winner, 'Dustin Bones'. Jess trains with Vicky Roycroft and is really beginning to make a name for herself as and effective and stylish showjumping rider. They were just out of the money in the Young Rider Grand Prix and finished seventh overall in the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office Young Rider Championship.

Hayley Coman and 'Just Lately' were just out of the money in the Young Rider Grand Prix,but finished fourth overall in the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office Young Rider Championship. AS Hayley and 'Just Lately' make a beautiful jump over this oxer, it's hard to imagine why mum, (Sue Coman/bottom left) is looking quite so worried.

Coco Miles and her lovely imported mare, 'Tiqulja' finished fifth overall in the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office Young Rider Championship.

Danielle Butcher with her wonderful 'HP Landsong' jumped three lovely clear rounds in the Young Rider Grand Prix. Danielle went into this final class in the lead for the Championship. She had to win or come second to hold on to the title. She was fourth and was relegated to second place overall by two points.

Greer Butcher and her delightful new ride, 'Eliza Jane'. They were fifth in the Young Rider Grand Prix and eighth overall in the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office Young Rider Championship.

Despite the appalling conditions, (which seemed to make 'Mr Chips' jump higher), Belinda Prestwidge from Mulgoa and her successful partner of five years, the Thoroughbred 'Mr Chips', won the Young Rider Grand Prix, with the fastest time in the jump off. Fifth going into the final the win earned the consistent pair the 2007 Young Rider Australian Championship.

The roof over the main arena seating has only been in place for a couple of months. It proved to be timely, as it kept most spectators high and dry. I think its main purpose was shade from the sun, but there has not been a great deal of that up here recently.

Poor Emily Blinkworth and 'CP Argentina' got a real soaking during their second round and the jump off of the Young Rider Grand Prix. Despite that, they jumped three super clear rounds to take third place and finish tenth overall in the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office Young Rider Championship.

Natalie Siiankowski and 'Kolora Stud Archie' always make a lovely picture over a fence. They are pictured during the CCI*** showjumping phase. With just 1.2 cross-country time penalties to add, Natalie and Archie took sixth place.

Heath Ryan and his Richmead Medallion gelding, 'Mystery Whisper' took seventh place in the CCI***. Just last week, Heath claimed the Grand Prix and Freestyle at DJWTS riding another black horse, Regardez Moi. Not a bad effort!

Megan Jones and her outstanding, home bred, 'Kirby Park Irish Jester', in typical pose. It is hard to imagine they could ever have a fence down. However, they just touched the first fence for the addition of four penalties. They took second place in the CCI*** with a total of 56.1 penalties.

Sonja Johnson with her own and the Saunder's super Australian Stock Horse, 'Ringwould Jaguar'. He too had an uncharacteristic showjumping rail, but he held on to first place to win the CCI*** with 49.6 penalties and claim the Robert Slade Memorial Trophy.

One of the several outstanding Young Riders to start in the ISS Grand Prix, Hilary Scott, rode the beautiful and promising, Imported mare, ,'Oaks Pro Ratina' by Pro Ratio out of a Phantom mare.

Young rider, Jamie Winning and her imported Alcatraz stallion, 'Yandoo Vangelo' show just how the Australian Flag planks should be jumped. They jumped four and eight to take fifth place in the ISS Grand Prix.

South Australian rider, Amy Graham finished just out of the money in the ISS Grand Prix riding her careful, imported Gregor gelding, 'Transatlantic'.

Becky Allen is now the eldest of the "young things". She gave a copy-book demonstration aboard her Brilliant Invader gelding, 'Koyuna Ted' to take sixth place in the ISS Grand Prix.

It is difficult to know where to start with South Australian legend, Wendy Schaeffer. She is pictured riding 'Koyuna Sun Set', her mare by Majestic Supreme out of a Souvenir mare to fourth place in the ISS Grand Prix. Wendy and Sun Set finished second overall behind Chris Chugg in the Senior Australian Showjumping Championship. A little earlier in the day, Wendy took third, fourth and fifth place in the CCI***.

Vicki Roycroft is getting a lovely tune out of the Burgraaf mare, 'Noblewood Park Blatini'. They finished just out of the money in the ISS Grand Prix, but the multiple Australian Champion finished in overall third place in the Senior Australian Championship

Chris Chugg and the super imported Fuego du Prelet stallion, 'Vivant' won the ISS Grand Prix and on the strength of it, Chris claimed his third Australian Championship title.

Young Rider,Julia Hargreaves almost (actually did) stole the show riding her wonderful, imported gelding 'Copabella Haymen' to jump four and four and claim second place in the ISS Grand Prix.
