Pacific Coast Arabian Show
The Pacific Arabian A Class Show was held on the 18th to 20th August 2023 at the Maryborough Showgrounds, this show is run by a very small Mackay and District Arabian Group and they do a fantastic job running the show and competing. A BBQ was held on the Friday Night as a get together for those people who had travelled early and it was a great opportunity for people to meet and have a chat.
Saturday's program started off with a fantastic lineup of derivatives in the halter ring - a new incentive this year with Home Produced Classes first up. Classes included Anglos, Partbreds, Arabian Ponies, Arabian Riding Ponies, Half Arabian, Quarab, Arabian Stockhorses. The open ring was judged by Leonie Williamson who did a great job. Plenty of different types and plenty of colours to keep everyone happy.

Purebred Ridden horses followed the halter horses and some really quality horses and riders showed some lovely workouts for good results.

The Junior ring was in full swing on Saturday morning with smiles all around and lots of fun. Miranda Beasley judged the juniors and did a fabulous job, making the day fun for the parents and the kids. We had some very excited winners and these kids really are our future showies and pleasure riders. All showed lovely manners and sportsmanship.

The night program is always popular and included a fantastic lineup of pure and derivative horses vying for the freestyle workout championship, everyone gave it their all with some great backing music. Our Judges for the night program were Leonie Williamson and Miranda Beasley who did a wonderful job.
Next in were the Liberty horses, this is always a fun class and with the horses left to do their thing we were treated to some really nice moving horses who were happy to show off for their owners. The Liberty Supreme Champion was presented with an amazing painting done by a local artist - Tammy Martin from Painted Brush Studios. Tammy donated several paintings for prizes and these are very special and amazing to win.
Kay Slattery presented her lovely purebred Leondon Silver Monshareef in one of her fantastic costumes that she has won many Champions with. It was a lovely showing from someone who has been in the industry for many years and always supports the Show.

Sunday started with the Purebred halter horses and these horses put on a real show for the spectators, some lovely up and coming youngsters and we had some lovely young handlers out there as well doing a great job. A Straight Egyptian feature was in the program this year and a wonderful incentive for our small breeders.

The purebreds were followed by the derivative saddle horses who put in some great workouts, it was great to see some youngsters coming through and handling the relaxed atmosphere very well.
