Successful Queensland young rider, Elliott Patterson took the early lead, but had to settle for eventual second place in the Marcus Oldham Aachen Challenge. However, his horse, the talented'Leandro' by Lauries Crusader was declared Best Horse in the competition.

Twenty one year old Alexis Hellyer from Woodville in the Hunter Valley rode away with the trip to Aachen, not only by her efforts riding her own Weltmeyer gelding, 'Waca W", but also by her ability to catch ride the other two finalist's horses. The three Marcus Oldham Aachen Challenge finalists rode their own horse and then the horses of the other two riders with the highest percentage from the three rides winning the trip to Germany.

If I say Tubular Bells meets Morris dancing, it sounds rather naf, but it was in fact very entertaining. They won the Kieffer Intermediate Freestyle with 70.70%.

If only we could all age like 'Neversfelde Kudu'? The talented, twenty year old Kassiber mare was ridden by Alycia Targa to second place in the Kieffer Intermediate 1 Freestyle with 70%. Later in the day Alycia took third place in the Marcus Oldham Aachen Challenge (for riders between 16 and 25 years) riding Kudu's son, Neversfelde Weltsong.
