Alexander to challenge cobalt charges

Trainer Archie Alexander is set to contest cobalt charges after one of his horses returned a sample in excess of the permitted threshold.

The Alexander-trained Tom's Knight recorded the elevated reading in a post-race sample after winning the bet365 Protest Promise Maiden Plate (1200m) at Kilmore on November 2, 2018.

At a Victorian Racing Tribunal directions hearing on Thursday morning, Alexander's legal representative, Jack O'Connor, indicated that his client would contest the charge relating to Tom's Knight being administered with cobalt.
