Apprentice jockey Hannah Fitzgerald placed in a coma following Kalgoorlie race fall

An apprentice jockey remains in an induced coma after falling from her horse at a West Australian racecourse over the weekend.

Hannah Fitzgerald, 18, was dislodged from her mount Neurologic, who ran fourth in the race, shortly after the finishing post in race six at Kalgoorlie Racecourse on Saturday.

7NEWS understands her horse clipped another, she fell and was knocked unconscious. The final race was called off with fellow jockeys too distraught to continue.
