Deadlines loom for Royal Queensland Show entries with beloved Ekka set to return

While there is still about three months until the Royal Queensland Show (aka the Ekka) returns after a two-year COVID hiatus, deadlines for would-be competitors are fast approaching.

More than 2,000 entries have already been received for the fine arts competitions, photography, creative art and craft, cake decorating, cookery, painting, drawing and sculpture, all of which close on Friday.

Paddington Jams and Preserves business owner Amy Simpson is preparing fresh batches of her recipes to enter this year, after a nearly clean sweep through the recent Brookfield Show.

She took out seven thirds, five seconds, seven firsts, a champion preserve exhibit, champion preserves, and reserve grand champion at Brookfield.
