Equine Herpes Virus Outbreak Reported at Schindlhof Dressage Farm in Fritzens, Austria

The Schindlhof farm, world famous for its dressage competition nestled in the Austrian Alps, has reported an oubreak of Equine Herpes Virus EHV-1 apparently unrelated to the outbreaks reported at some show grounds in Spain and spread throughout much of Europe by horses leaving before testing.

The stables of Evelyn Haim-Swarovski and Klaus Haim report that 14 out of 40 horses have fallen ill at Schindlhof in Fritzens. Two of the infected horses were reported by a local newspaper to have temperatures of more than 40C/104F.
