Extra Brut dies in Hong Kong

2018 Victoria Derby winner Extra Brut has died following a walking machine accident on Tuesday.

It is understood the Hong Kong Derby contender, who had run just once at his new home last month after being sold to Hong Kong earlier this year, was warming up on the walker before a planned trial.

The South China Morning Post quoted new trainer Frankie Lor as saying: "It is very sad, very unusual accident."

Expectations were high for Extra Brut in his new home after he finished an eye-catching third at his Hong Kong debut in the Chevalier Cup at Sha Tin last month.
