Future of country shows uncertain as coronavirus puts stop to carnivals

It's an education that is normally taken on the road, but this year the truck classrooms of the National School for Travelling Show Children has remained at Yatala, on Queensland's Gold Coast, for the past two months.

It symbolises the standstill of a constantly moving industry — that of travelling amusements that service regional agricultural shows across Australia.

With mass gatherings currently cancelled due to COVID-19, show workers find themselves at an unusual standstill.

The class at Yatala has just five students as all the others are spread around the country.
