Heavyweight Horsepower at LGCT - LPEJ

An impressive line-up of show jumping stars will be in action under the shadow of the Eiffel Tower this weekend, as the world’s top horses descend on the heart of France to compete in the 11th round of action on the Longines Global Champions Tour.

Current ranking leader Pieter Devos (BEL) will bring two of the finest from his string - top mare Claire Z who already won the LGCT Grand Prix of Miami Beach earlier this year, and Espoir. Hot on his heels is Ben Maher (GBR), the British Olympian brings with him Don Vito and F One USA, the latter a talented 9 year old stallion who cruised him into the LGCT Grand Prix of Monaco last weekend.

Third placed man Daniel Deusser (GER) will bring out the big guns with LGCT Grand Prix of Hamburg winning mare Jasmien v. Bisschop and the eye-catching grey and white Cornet 39. Maikel van der Vleuten (NED) has with him the formidable Verdi TN, and fifth placed man in the rankings Niels Bruynseels (BEL) has Delux van T&L.

The French riders have brought out plenty of their top horses, looking to impress on home turf this weekend. Simon Delestre (FRA) has with him fan-favourite, the fiery Hermes Ryan as well as up-and-coming-superstar Filou Carlo Zimequest. Julien Epaillard (FRA) brings top horse Usual Suspect D’Auge with him, the combination who won the LGCT Grand Prix of Paris previously and Roger Yves-Bost (FRA) will have Sunshine du Phare and Sangria du Coty.

Fans will also be treated to a dazzling display of horsepower, with many of the world’s best in action this weekend. Names include Scott Brash’s (GBR) Hello Mr President, Nayel Nassar’s (EGY) Lucifer V, Edwina Tops-Alexander’s (AUS) California, Lorenzo de Luca’s (ITA) Scuderia 1918 Halifax van het Kluizebos, Peder Fredricson’s (SWE) H&M Christian K and Malin Baryard-Johnsson’s (SWE) H&M Indiana and H&M Second Chance.

The action kicks off on Friday 5th July at 11:50 for the first CSI5* class with the GCL Paris R1 taking place at 17:00 local time. Tune in live and exclusively on GC TV via the www.gcglobalchampions.com website.
