Los Angeles International Equestrian Center CDI3* Canceled in 2021 for Second Year, 2nd Major California Dressage Event Dropped

The Los Angeles Equestrian Center international dressage competition has been canceled for 2021 for the second year as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and the second major California event pulled from next year’s CDI calendar.

Cancellation of the CDI3* event scheduled at Griffith Park in Burbank for April 29-May 2 was recorded on the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) calendar Tuesday.

Dressage events at the Los Angeles facility of 500 permanent horse stalls and year round trainers of different disciplines on 75 acres/30ha have been organized by Glenda McElroy since 1992, according to official records. The CDIs, as many as eight a year, have mostly been World Cup and CDI3* competitions, including a North American league final in 2004. Glenda also operates a gift store at the show grounds. She was also the dressage organizer for the four World Cup Finals staged in Las Vegas this century, plus the 2020 championship that was canceled because of Covid-19.

Both Burbank and the Del Mar National were canceled this year because of the pandemic and both will not be held in 2021.
