Man charged over shooting deaths of 41 horses north of Longreach

A man has been charged over the shooting deaths of 41 horses on a property in outback Queensland.

The animals were found with multiple gunshot wounds on a 2,000-hectare property north of Longreach on Thursday last week.

Mount Isa man Christopher John Anderson, 49, has been charged with wilfully and unlawfully killing a number of horses in Longreach.

Police allege the horses – including geldings, colts, pregnant mares and mares with foals – died between August 3 and August 4.
