Meredith out of bed for the first time

Apprentice jockeys Elissa Meredith and Leah Kilner are continuing to take positive steps as they continue to recover from the horror falls they were involved in earlier this month.

Racing New South Wales provided an update on both riders on Thursday afternoon.

Elissa Meredith fell at Gunnedah and was placed into an induced coma and in the intensive care unit at John Hunter Hospital after that.

“Elissa continues to make steady progress and got out of bed for the first time today,” the Racing New South Wales update said.

“She walked across the room with assistance, making her first steps since the fall on July 4th.”
