Michael Kenyon still photographing Queensland's rodeos after 50 years

Michael Kenyon has toured with the best rodeo riders in the world. Now, he’s touring with their grandchildren.

"I began as a motorcar photographer and for various other events," he said.

"I took a random picture of Frank Sinatra in concert once and these two blokes saw it.

"They said, ‘We ride horses, have you ever shot a rodeo?’ That was in 1974."

The two men toured Kenyon through rodeo circuits, monthly rides, and showed him what they were looking for in a picture.

He said they followed a simple rule:

"You're looking for your next best picture."
