Mullewa Muster and Rodeo returns after pandemic forces break

Rodeo is bred into WA's McCarthy family in which Coby, 11, has become the fifth generation to take the reins.

The McCarthys were among dozens of riders back in the saddle at the Mullewa Muster and Rodeo at the weekend after a two-year pandemic hiatus.

The Midwest rodeo attracted more than 2,500 people who watched a range of events including bull riding, barrel racing and bareback riding.

Competitors travelled from as far as New South Wales to compete for a share of the $36,000 prize pool.
