Mystery surrounds RV 'spy' claim

Mystery continues to surround a claim by a former Racing Victoria employee that he was approached to spy on the Macedon Lodge stables of six-time Melbourne Cup-winning owner Lloyd Williams.

A story on Racenet on Tuesday morning featured a claim by former jockey and barrier attendant Michael Healy that as well as being approached to spy on the leading trainer of the time, Peter Moody, Healy was also asked whether he could do the same at Macedon Lodge.

Healy said he rejected both offers but confirmed the approaches.

"Terry Bailey put it to me to be a spy for them - his first words were, we want to put you into a stable - I said what stable?" Healy told Racenet of then RV chief steward Bailey.
