People from far and wide travel to Toolooombilla rodeo and draft

The Tooloombilla Rodeo committee has persevered through COVID and rain delays to finally stage its well-known three-day horse riding spectacular.

Spokeswoman Sally McGilvray said they'd hosted a large crowd that had travelled long distances to take part.

"Everyone was very excited to be there as the country and cattle are all in great condition and everyone is feeling positive in the bush at the moment," she said.

The campdraft itself went for three days, with the Rabobank Maiden A draft won by Stephen Sheppard on Lawson.

He also won the Maiden B on Tribute.

The Maiden 4 Maiden draft winner was Paul Gorman on HB while the Futurity Draft for horses four years and under was taken out by Barney O'Brien on Lynnell.

The Novice A draft winner was Kane Duff on Lindy Lou.

The Open draft winner was Karen Hancock on Donell Park Whitney and the Restricted Open was taken out by Andy Mulcahy on The Blue Eyed Cat.

Carolyn Roberts won the Novice A on Miss Mouse and Penny Duggan and Contrast won the ladies draft.

The Juvenile winner was Samuel Collier on Flame.

On Saturday in the rodeo arena there was plenty of bucking action with stock supplied by Rick Knudsen, Robert Bunn, Peter Barber and Ted Egan.

They were firing but Roma's Ray White agent AJ Riley won the Saddle Ride.

There was a top 6 Chute Out calcutta under lights and the cowboys rode again for double prize money and buckle.

Local Injune Rider Tom Webster won this time with a spectacular bronc ride.

Dave Worsfold won the bareback ride and got the buckle.

The bulls were the winners, too strong for the bull riders in the open event and spat them out in the novice.

Nash Jones was able to make time and won the U18 junior bull ride and also the bullock ride.

Blake Christie won the U15 Mini Bulls and Riley Ahern the U12. Kate patch won the Barrel Race.

Sunday's gymkhana and bushman's challenge were both very popular with the young ones.

Sally said it was all round a wonderful and successful weekend of catching up with mates from near and far, made possible by generous sponsorship and tireless volunteers, who help raise money for the Royal Flying Doctor Service and Injune and Mitchell ambulance services.
