Renmark Horse and Pony Club shuts doors after 50 years of supporting riders, young and old

A Riverland community club has closed its doors after more than 50 years due to dwindling membership.

The Renmark Horse and Pony Club braved the rain and held its last rally day on Sunday.

It followed an unsuccessful campaign by volunteers to increase its membership base.

Secretary Sue John said the South Australian club only had about five riding members for the last year of its existence, which was not sustainable.

"Realistically, there's just no kids with horses in the area. We just don't have the demand unfortunately," she said.
