STRZEGEM, Poland, Aug. 15, 2021–Rose Oatley and Daddy Moon set another world record with victory Sunday in the European Pony Championship freestyle on a score three-tenths of a point from 90% and three days after the German partnership posted a record in the team competition.
Rose and Daddy Moon (FS Daddy Cool x Capri Moon), an 11-year-old Rhinelander gelding, were awarded 89.700% in the freestyle, shattering the record of 85.825% set by Great Britain’s Phoebe Peters on SL Lucci at the 2015 European Championships. The previous best result for a musical performance by Rose and Daddy Moon was 81.400% in placing third at the 2020 Europeans.
Three of the five judges awarded the 14-year-old rider and Daddy Moon scores of at least 90%, two of 92%, with the lowest 86.375% that itself was above the previous record.
Rose, No. 1 pony rider in the world for the past 18 months, posted a team record result of 82.629% to lead Germany to their 35th European pony team gold Thursday. She is the daughter of four-time Olympian Kristy Oatley who rides for Australia but lives in Germany.
