Sunshine Coast teen horse rider suffers fractured spine after near miss with engine-revving dangerous driver

Tayla Slater believes she is lucky to have survived a fall from her horse when it was startled by a driver revving his engine at them.

The 18-year-old spent three days at Sunshine Coast University Hospital with a spinal fracture after the incident at Lake Cooroibah on Saturday.

"My sister and I were actually on the right side and off the side of the road, we were on the grass track and this driver's come over to that side and revved the car."

She said the usually quiet gelding she was riding spooked, causing her to fall, landing on her face.

"They didn't stop, they just kept going," Ms Slater said.
