Trainer banned after wild trackwork dust-up

A wild trackwork altercation that saw a stablehand knocked to the deck and a horse on the loose has resulted in a prominent country trainer being suspended for 4½ months.

Scone conditioner Mark Schmetzer found himself in the firing line of Racing NSW stewards following a physical dispute at his home track on Monday, November 15.

The incident occurred around 8.15am on the morning near the track’s horse swimming pool when Schmetzer dismounted from his horse Royal Exit to confront stablehand Tony Whitfield.
