Winx honoured at Royal Randwick with new grandstand

Winx, the greatest horse of the 21st century, will be celebrated by Racing NSW and the Australian Turf Club following the announcement of a new lawn stand named in her honour.

On the same morning as the announcement of the Winx Stand, her jockey Hugh Bowman was named in a class of 10 to be inducted into the Australian Racing Hall Of Fame later in the week.

Winx and Bowman have ridden into Australian sporting folklore in the past four years with a winning streak of 33 completed with the mare's third Queen Elizabeth Stakes win last month.

The great mare had 20 of her 37 wins at Randwick. The stand in her honour will be positioned at the 200m mark, connected to the Queen Elizabeth Stand, at the position where she hit the front in most of her winning surges.
