Michael Barisone, the United States dressage team reserve rider at the 2008 Olympics, will be tried early next year for attempted murder of a student and her boyfriend at his New Jersey horse farm two years ago.
The attorney for the 57-year-old, who also was a coach of a rider on the American 2016 Olympic bronze medal team, told the Morris County Superior Court Friday he intends to present evidence of insanity and self-defense, as reported by equestrian journalist Nancy Jaffer.
