Online Activities Keep Pony Clubs Members Involved and Learning

With the return of COVID-19 restrictions in some states, Pony Club Australia has increased its online learning and sense of connection for its affected members – and opened it up to anyone else.

The very popular online PCA quizzes have returned for members, and anyone else, to check their horse knowledge. Pony Club Australia invites members of the public to test their knowledge - and if they are former members, to see how much they have retained and what has changed over the years.

People are able to challenge the clock, and other entrants, at various knowledge levels. They can choose to redo quizzes until they get the answers right. CEO Dr Catherine Ainsworth said that because members work their way through levels of the syllabus to gain certificates, the quizzes are set at knowledge levels at, or just above, these Pony Club certificate levels.

Other online activities include horse related craft activities and educational videos, all currently accessible by the public.

“We set up our ‘Plan B’ – COVID-19 response back in April to support Clubs and members, their families, coaches, and supporters through this crisis, and will keep it going due to a very good response,” Dr Ainsworth added. “Learning goes on, and there will be members who might need time out for themselves or their horses through injury or illness etc. We have also found it valuable as a way to accommodate different learning preferences for our members, so it will always be useful and will be updated regularly.”
