Riders from around the state at Yaraka gymkhana

Families from around Queensland showed that the Yaraka gymkhana remains the perennial school holiday horse sport venue, flocking to the event in big numbers.

Organisers said 104 horse and 96 motorbike entries had been received.

Jericho's Jackie O'Dell snaffled the champion lady rider ribbon while the champion male rider prize went to Andrew Petersen, Thargomindah.

Jacy Morton received the Colin Wood Memorial while the Stew Campbell Memorial went to Jacob Ross, Augathella.

Sarah McCronan, Blackall, was the champion child rider and had the champion pony.

In the motorbike events, it was Barcaldine's Emma Chandler who became the champion child rider while her brother Hugh Chandler was the champion male rider, and Kylie Hauff, Emerald, was the champion lady rider.

The event has springboarded the return of campdrafting to Yaraka, which will take place in September, and is the first to be held in the district since 2012.

Spokesman John Karger said they had finally gotten a decent season that would allow them to make use of the good facilities at Kiama Park.
