USA Dressage Team Rider Michael Barisone Pleads Not Guilty to 2 Counts of Attempted Murder

MORRISTOWN, New Jersey, Jan. 13, 2020–Michael Barisone, United States 2008 Olympic dressage team reserve, has pleaded not guilty to two counts of attempted murder at his equestrian training center last August.

Michael, 55 years old, entered the plea in Morris County Superior Court, about 50 miles/80km west of New York City.

He was indicted last month on charges of shooting Lauren Kanarak twice in the chest, and attempting to shoot her fiancé, Robert Goodwin last Aug. 7, following a months-long dispute on whether the couple could continue to live at Barisone’s farm. Lauren began training with Michael in 2018, and returned in 2019.
